Unfinished Hunter’s Star in pansies

My Mom died a year ago today. She had COPD, was in an Adult Foster Care, tethered to an oxygen tank and had a terrible quality of life. I was very relieved that she was out of her prison of a body. She was sharp as a tack right up to the end and fussed about a quilt she was making for her sister Ruth. Mom picked colors she liked and I secretly thought that Auntie would not like them because she leaned to yellow and mom liked pink!

I showed the unfinished blocks to Auntie Ruth this summer without telling her Mom’s plan for them. She loved them and told my cousin that she would like any quilt that I made, so I’m pulling this project together to get it quickly to my long arm quilter friend who will have to use every skill she has to “quilt it out”. It is a Hunter’s Star and totally cattywampus because of the 60 degree diamonds.  There’s enough creamy yellow in the pansy background and I got a golden yellow toile backing.
